Welcome to Pensioenfonds Stork

Welcome to Pensioenfonds Stork
Pensioenfonds Stork (in liquidatie) / Stork Pension Fund (in liquidation) is an independent foundation, not linked to employer Stork. The fund has its own Board of Trustees, with an independent responsibility for the scheme’s policy and operation. Pensioenfonds Stork bears responsibility for the agreed pensions of employees, former employees and pensioners (and potential surviving relatives). Next to that, Pensioenfonds Stork is committed to invest the contributions in a professional way, to ensure sufficient assets to enable the fund to pay all pensions, now and in future.

An impressive history
The history of Pensioenfonds Stork goes back to the 19th century. In 2011 the fund exists 130 years. The current fund was founded in Hengelo, by the Vereeniging van het personeel van Gebr. Stork & Co., -previously the association of employees of early Stork. This association of employees made out a case for a better social safety net for the elderly and surviving relatives. To enable ‘common’ employees to enjoy the benefits was progressive at that time. A significant detail: in those days, spouses stimulated their husbands to pay the pension contributions, to ensure themselves a proper life in case their breadwinner should pass away.

The current Stork Company is a merger of the holdings Stork (Hengelo), Werkspoor (Amsterdam and Utrecht) and the Bronswerkgroep (Amersfoort). Inside of the holdings, there existed several pension funds and pension schemes. In 1977 one umbrella pension fund was founded as a result of the merger of Pensioenfonds VMF with Centraal Pensioenfonds Stork and Pensioenfonds Werkspoor 1912. In was not before 1989 when all pension schemes were put together and all employees of the Stork Corporation were assembled in the same pension scheme with one universal supplement allowance.

In 1999 a new pension scheme was designed, with a basic pension for all and several options on demand, based on an average pay scheme. After expiration of the early retirement arrangements in 2006, some transitional measures were taken.

Regarding the characteristics of the activities within Stork, pensions of the employees should basically be part of the compulsory industry wide pension plan for the Metalektro. Until 2011 Stork however always qualified itself for dispensation of participation, while the Stork Pension Plan was of the same quality or better compared with the Metalektro plan.

Times are changing. In the best interest of all its stakeholders, the Board of Pensioenfonds Stork, the Stork-companies and PME (Pensionfund Metalektro) decided to transfer the pensionscheme and the accrued pensions including all assets to PME. The scale and professionality of PME offer the best prospect for the future. The transition to PME will be effective as of January 1th, 2012. Stichting Pensioenfonds Stork is in liquidation as of December 11th 2011.
